If this is your first child, you may be asking questions about your upcoming visit. Here is what you need to know, so there are no surprises.
What will happen during my child’s first dental visit?
The first visit is really about establishing rapport. After all, we want your child comfortable coming to our office. Plus, the sooner you can get him in for regular cleanings and exams the more relaxed and commonplace visiting the dentist will become. We will sit down and talk with both you and your child and get to know more about your child’s medical history.
What will we discuss during my child’s dental visit?
We will talk about how to care for your child’s mouth and erupting teeth. We will also talk about ways you can prevent cavities, how to use fluoride to keep teeth healthy, healthy dental development and even eating habits. Also, if you have any questions now is the best time to address them.
Will there be a dental exam?
We will take a quick look at your child’s mouth; however, we often do this while the child is sitting in the parent’s lap so they feel comfortable. We will also make sure your child isn’t dealing with any cavities or signs of decay. If we notice any stains we may also do a light cleaning.
