At Rochester Dental we want to be your partner in dental health. Just as we work with you to create a healthy smile, it is important for you to maintain your part outside of our office in order to keep periodontal disease at bay. By practicing proper dental hygiene at home you will be maintaining your dental health while also preventing periodontal disease from developing.
Dental Care at Home
While visiting our office twice a year is vital in maintaining optimal oral health, it is also important to perform the following between visits:
- Spend at least three minutes brushing your teeth twice a day. If you have to, use a timer to ensure that you are spending enough time brushing, or even hum “Happy Birthday” to yourself.
- Purchase an ADA-approved toothpaste.
- Use floss at least once a day to clean between your teeth.
Basically, if you brush and floss correctly, you are protecting your teeth and gums even more between dental visits. As your dentists in Troy, Dr. Debra Halsey and Dr. William Carmody are available at Rochester Dental to help you establish a proper oral hygiene regimen.
If you have questions on proper oral hygiene, please contact our Troy family dentists at (248) 528-0700 to schedule an appointment, or simply visit our website for up-to-date dental information.
